Why is digital printing using pigmented inks called the future?
Digital printing using pigmented inks is often referred to as the technology of the future for several reasons.
First of all, printing using pigmented inks significantly shortens the lead time and even allows for single prints, which in the case of printing using reactive dyes or dye-sublimation method is still impossible and unprofitable. A wide range of applications, from fabric dyeing to pattern printing, results in the technology of printing using pigmented inks taking over an increasingly large share of the market. One of the reasons for its success is that it removes many of the existing printing restrictions. For example, it allows for printing both a single t-shirt and an entire bolt of fabric with a pattern – authorial or selected from a catalogue. Most importantly, fabric printing using pigmented inks creates an enormous potential for small and medium enterprises and retail customers. Now not only large clothing companies can create unique sewing textiles. Digital printing using pigmented inks is also an environmentally friendly technology.
The printing process does not require the use of water, and prints on fabric are fixed at high temperatures without the use of chemicals. The custom printing model also allows to minimise textile waste to a large extent – we produce only as much fabric as our customer orders.
